Formation in the Faith

Formation is offered to all ages from August through May before the service. We gather at 9:15am and have three separate classes going. In Fall 2018, we will offer Confirmation preparation for those wishing to be confirmed, received, or reaffirmed in The Episcopal Church.

Just as important as worshipping together in community is, so also is the commitment to grow in the faith as a community.

The youngest of our children are in the Nursery with Mrs. Kimberly each week of the year. They hear a bible story and have a lot of play time. They join their families right before the Lord's Prayer.

Staffing ratios of 5 children per adult are strictly enforced.

Two classes exist for those too old for the Nursery. The school age children hear the readings of the day and engage in higher-level thinking as they ask questions and try to understand how the readings apply to their life.

During the summer, the children work on a "St. Peter's Scoop" which helps them learn the parts of the liturgy through a checklist, fill-in-the blank, or free-form questions.

Our pre-teen children engage in studies of the Book of Common Prayer and further exploration of the liturgy.

Our Adult Formation critically examines issues facing The Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. We use the ChurchNext curriculum as one method of growing in the faith.

We have also studied meditation, prayer, silence in our formation.

No Adult Formation season would be complete without a few history lessons from our Rector who is an avid fan of Church History.
